SigVerify Stage

Core Protocol · Bottom

The second stage in Solana's TPU pipeline, positioned between fetch and banking, responsible for verifying all Ed25519 signatures on incoming transaction packets. SigVerify uses GPU-accelerated batch verification to validate thousands of signatures per second, discarding packets with invalid signatures before they consume execution resources. Each transaction's first signature doubles as its unique ID, so deduplication also occurs at this stage by checking the signature against a recent cache.
